Skyrim: Calientes Female Body Mod Big Bottom Edition -CBBE-

Don’t you just love when female body mods are given long, convoluted names that require being shortened into an acronym? It’s not even correct, it should be CFBMBBE!

Despite being as straight as a U-turn, I still like to use female body mods in my game and can be quite discerning about which one to use. This has lead me to what I believe to be the definitive female body mod for Skyrim…which wasn’t very hard in the first place as there’s only two main body types (CBBE and UNP) as opposed to Oblivion’s six (BAB, Eshme, Exnem, HGEC, Growlf, and Corwyn).

CBBE as it’s known is a high quality female body mod by Caliente. However, it’s more than just a simple T&A mod as we will soon see. Although the default shape is the one everyone tends to use when making compatible armour, there are some alternate variations for those with particular tastes.

Body Types

The curvy version is the default version (the one most outfit modders use when adding CBBE support), the slim version has smaller breasts, and the vanilla version tries to keep as close to the vanilla shape as possible except with more realistic breasts. However, for those of a much more…specific taste, who just can’t play Skyrim without their women looking absolutely the way they want them too…Caliente has a solution for that. And it doesn’t involve italics.

Why yes, if you require absolute control over how your girls look, Caliente has the BodySlide, a tool that allows you to customise the size and shape of your own body mod. A lot of it is self explanatory, and it even comes with a set of presets to easily get you started. This is also the only way to get access to some of the ludicrous sizes, as you can see below.

CBBE - Ridiculously Large

It's like watching a lava lamp, only tits...

You can also use the BodySlide to add Breast and Butt Physics, which requires you to have installed Cherry Hotaling’s CHSBHC-BBP mod first. Simply select the BBP setting from the Outfit/Body box (it’s mislabelled as “BBB” which stands for the Oblivion equivalent, Better Bouncing Breasts), choose a preset or design your own, and you should have animated breasts in the game. Worked for me. Honestly I think the bouncing is a tad exaggeratted during some of the walking animations, but apparently Cherry is already planning on toning that down for the next update. Although I don’t like breasts as much as, well, straight guys, I do definitely appreciate how much more natural the breasts looks now that they move (instead of staying still like plastic). You can see my personal settings in the screenshot above.

Oh? But what’s this? You’re using a female face mod such as Coverwomen or Bella’s Better Females and now you have some horrible seam at the neck? Well don’t worry, Caliente has that sorted too.

There are two types of TexBlend.exe available for CBBE. The first one is Texture Blender Lite, which is included with CBBE. You can find it in your Data folder under CalienteTools, TexBlendLite. What it does is that it’ll automatically take whatever female face textures you have installed and apply a quick seam fix to it. As you can see from the diagram Caliente produced above, this pretty much works perfectly. No effort required.

However, you can also download a full version of TexBlend seperately, which is capable of doing the same thing and a little bit more. If you installed this version with NMM, it’ll be in your Data folder as TexBlend.exe.

From here, you can apply the neck fix manually (though there’s really no point in doing that, especially if you’ve already used the automatic fix), as well as add additional details to the skin, such as pubic hair, differently coloured nipples, tattoos, and such. Unfortunately though, most of the .psd files included don’t actually work, and will instead turn the whole texture black (I guess whoever made those ones forgot to make them transparent), so you’re not going to get much out of it right now. But the concept behind it is amazing; the ability to quickly and easily customise the textures to suit your own needs without needing to mess around with Photoshop. If Caliente were to fix some of those unusable PSDs and perhaps expand the program to work with male characters too, this could prove to be extremely useful to the Skyrim modding community.

Piss easy if you have Nexus Mod Manager. It even comes with a nifty installer to choose which body type you want. However, if you want to use BodySlide to customise the body or add breast physics, or if you need to use TexBlendLite to fix the neck seams, you will have to go into the Data folder yourself (both are under Caliente Tools).

Personally I don’t care much about body mod for female, not just because I’m straight like NTNGear, but in my mind, big boobs = not very practical and fit with lore. The way I see it is that Skyrim is a cold, and harsh land, and it takes strong people to survive, to live in it. So women should be as fit as well as the men to adapt to the nature of the land. I don’t mind a little muscle on the female, it suits them well, lore-wise. So i retained the original body look, however I don’t mind giving out that TexBlend a try but I don’t see much difference in it and beside, I would rather strip the men naked than the women. HURR DURR DURR. =P

Well, if the big boobs are your only problem, you may want to try using the Vanilla shaped version. It retains the shape of the Vanilla body while giving the breasts a more realistic shape. The main reason i’m using the Curvy version is because most of the decent custom armours out there are based on the Curvy version.

Doesn’t work while you are outside and it is bright as day. Trust me, works while you in that ruins near winterhold (the one for the mage guild, the excavation one), go outside, seam will reappear.

Hmm, I haven’t experienced this myself. Where is the seam exactly, at the neck? What texture are you using? Are you using an ENB? Some ENBs have the annoying habit of emphasising problems vanilla Skyrim has.

Oh, and most importantly, when was the last time you downloaded CBBE. If you’re using an older version, it might be one with seam problems that have been subsequently fixed.

If you can, upload a screenshot of the problem onto Imgur and link it here and i’ll have a look at it.
